Whilst there is a wide range of different rc model scale planes, the rather helpful thing about model planes is that they are clearly distinguishable into different categories, models of planes which are best suited for novices and hobbyists are clearly set apart from those types best suited for experts. rc model jet airplanes are the top at the model plane range, premium in terms of their quality, cost, and level of skill required to successfully operate them.

RC model jet airplanes are made of much more sturdy and durable materials and typically are constructed using fibre glass, carbon fibre, and it should ne noted that such models are very very expensive, with the high costs only matched by the steep learning curve required to successfully operate them. The jet plane models are then supported by means of a wooden frame, which acts as the “skeleton” for the plane, keeping it firm and sturdy.
One of the reasons that they are so demanding on the skills and technical ability of the pilot is that these models have been reported to reach speeds in excess of 200 mph, and that with the most “basic” of rc model jet airplanes, a level of speed that will require tremendous amounts of skill, precision and concentration. Given the powerful nature of the rc model jet airplanes, the US government has outlawed their use within certain specified areas such as residential areas.

The reason as to why the rc model jet airplanes are so powerful lies within their engine. The typically use a micro turbine or ducted fan in order to more effectively power them, and such engines are actually a scaled down version of the types found in commercial aircraft, which should hopefully make more evident the phenomenal power these rc model jet airplanes have. An average turbine aircraft will cost between $5000-$20,000 and many manufactures sell airframes such as Yellow Aircraft and Skymasters, which are viewed as the premium brands among the jet plane models. Please note that whilst there are electrical models of these planes, the vast majority make use of Kevlar fuel tanks which make use of kerosene which burns for only a matter of seconds in order to give the plane that extra degree of power for lift off.

Suffice to say they are best left to experts, and are not a glorified toy!
